Technical education with a royal lineage
The history of Technobothnia begins in 1842, when an imperial decree by Czar Nicholas I founded a technical Sunday school in Vaasa. Over time, this school grew into the modern engineering education now offered by the University of Vaasa, VAMK, and Novia on the Palosaari Campus.
Technobothnia itself was established in 1996 to strengthen cooperation between these institutions and the local industry. The laboratories are located in historic cotton-mill buildings that once housed Wasa Bomullsmanufaktur (1857–1980), giving the center both a strong heritage and a modern mission.
